Bruno Mars may have seemed an odd choice for performing during the halftime of today’s Super Bowl. But Bruno wowed the crowd and naysayers with his lively performance and impressive drumming skills.
It was also cool that Bruno rocked out with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Pretty awesome!
The 28-year-old singer kicked off the annual Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show with a drum solo before launching into his hit songs including Locked Out Of Heaven, Treasure and Runaway Baby but things really got exciting when he was joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Bruno joined the band’s frontman Anthony Kiedis on the song “Give It Away”.
He then performed “Just The Way You Are”, dedicated to military personnel, with a short video clip featured tributes.
The singer, who grew up in Hawaii, said chasing his dream wasn’t always easy.
Mars said, “Don’t let anyone ever try to stop you. That’s what I had to face when I moved up to California. Nobody knew what nationality I was and that was such a big deal I guess in the music industry, that we don’t know who to sell these records (to) or what radio stations (should play them), and a lot of people were trying to tell me, ‘You’re too unorthodox’. If you got your head on straight and focus on what you do and practice your craft, then you have nowhere else to go but up.”
Well, we were definitely impressed with Bruno Mars’ halftime show. And who knew he could play drums like that?
