Max George has addressed the shocking split of The Wanted, revealing that the split was due to arguments over girlfriends.
We guess the “bros before hoes” rule doesn’t apply across the pond?
Max said in an interview with The Sun, “Over the past year there has been a lot of tension. Our personal lives drove us apart, things started to happen and we were drifting. We used to be such a brotherly pact, but it started to feel like it wasn’t The Wanted any more.”
Max and his band mate Nathan Sykes pushed for the band’s break-up and discussed the difficult chat with the other members.
The hunky singer explained, “We had a very difficult conversation. Our manager Scooter Braun asked us who would want to take a step out after the tour and try to do their own thing. Me and Nathan both said we have other ambitions. We were more prepared than the others because we’d looked at how things had been going with the band over the past few months.”
Max added, “It shouldn’t be a surprise for anyone. As upsetting as it might be to some of the other guys, I have to live my life. Nathan and I haven’t broken any promises either because we’re both going to be on the tour. We also haven’t said we feel we can achieve more than anyone else. I’m guessing that some people might think that, but me and Nathan have been just as loyal to this project as anyone else. Sometimes you just have to be realistic.”
Things became tense in the band after their manager, Scooter Braun, only signed Max and Nathan as solo artists.
Max also touched on filming their reality show last year, “The Wanted Life”, admitting it was trough.
The girlfriends of some of the members weren’t easy to get a long with.
Earlier this week Siva Kaneswaran’s girlfried, Nareesha McCaffrey, tweeted, “There is no ‘I’ in team. Some people, I’m telling you. Selfishness is such a nasty trait.”
Max responded, “If that was directed at me and Nathan, which I’m guessing it was, then it’s disappointing. I think it’s a little bit immature. It’s not news to anyone that there’s a bit of friction there. Me and Siva’s girlfriend don’t get on. But I respect her and am happy that she makes Siva happy because he’s like one of my brothers.”
The singer adds that girlfriends can cause problems and that he even had issues when he dated Michelle Keegan. He admits, “Some of the lads started getting settled I got settled at one point. I started drifting from the band when I was in a long-term relationship.”
George said he feels things will fall into place for everyone, adding, “Some of the boys have already got their own things in place. Siva’s got a huge modelling contract. Tom’s doing his DJing. There’s talk of Jay going into TV and radio.”
