Dennis Rodman has caused controversy after befriending North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, even remarking that an American citizen deserved his hard labor sentence.
Rodman entered the treatment facility in New Jersey following the drunken television appearance on CNN.
Dennis Rodman entered rehab just days ago following his return from North Korea.
The former Chicago Bulls star is “beyond exhausted and overwhelmed” and will be in treatment for 30 days.
The rehab news comes on the heels of his bizarre interview on CNN’s New Day show, where he stated Kenneth Bae may have done something to deserve his sentence of 15 years of hard labor.
Bae was convicted by by the regime on charges of planning to overthrow the North Korean government. He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment, and is the longest-serving United States prisoner of North Korea since the end of the Korean War.
Dennis later apologized to Bae’s family, claiming he was under stress and had been drinking when he was interviewed.
Dennis led a team of former professional basketball players in an exhibition match in North Korea, and even sang Happy Birthday to the country’s infamous new leader Kim Jong Un. Rodman refers to Kim as his friend.
This won’t be the first time Dennis Rodman has been in rehab. He has sought treatment multiple times, even appearing on the third season of Celebrity Rehab in 2009, relapsing soon after the show premiered.
