Full list of BAFTA 2014 nominees

This year’s BAFTA nominations were announced on Wednesday morning by “Harry Potter” star Helen McCrory and “Hobbit” star, Luke Evans.

“Gravity” landed the most nominations with eleven, with Sandra Bullock also nominated for Leading Actress in the film. Let’s check out the other BAFTA nominees 2014!

“Gravity” is in the lead this year, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, receiving nominations for Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Director for Alfonso Cuarón, Original Screenplay, Original Music, Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Sound and Special Visual Effects.

“12 Years a Slave” and “American Hustle” follow closely behind, each landing nominations in ten categories, followed by “Captain Phillips” with nine.

“12 Years a Slave” is nominated for Best Film, Director for Steve McQueen, Adapted Screenplay, Original Music, Cinematography, Editing and Production Design.

Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays a free man kidnapped and sold into slavery in America’s deep south in the movie is nominated for Leading Actor. Chiwetel stated, “I continue to be immensely proud of the recognition this film is getting around the world. There is, of course, something particularly special about receiving a Bafta nomination from home.”

Michael Fassbender is nominated for Supporting Actor and Lupita Nyong’o is nominated for Supporting Actress.

“American Hustle” received nominations for Best Film, Director for David O. Russell, Original Screenplay, Production Design, Costume Design and Make Up & Hair.

David O. Russell, the co-writer and director of “American Hustle” reacted to the nominations, stating, “Mind blowing. Humbled and beyond grateful to be recognised by BAFTA in this way. It means everything to have our actors and our craftspeople, who put their hearts into this picture, acknowledged.”

Christian Bale is nominated for Leading Actor and Amy Adams is nominated for Leading Actress, whilst Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are nominated for Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress.

“Captain Phillips” is nominated in the following categories: Best Film, Director for Paul Greengrass, Adapted Screenplay, Original Music, Cinematography, Editing and Sound. Tom Hanks is nominated for Leading Actor and Barkhad Abdi is nominated for Supporting Actor.

The BAFTAs are considered an indicator of likely success at Hollywood’s Academy Awards two weeks later.
