Lisa Niemi, who became a widow after Patrick Swayze’s 2009 death from pancreatic cancer, has found love again.
The actress and dancer who was married to the “Dirty Dancing” star for 34 years is engaged to jeweler Albert DePrisco, 58.
Lisa, 57, received a proposal from the jeweler on Christmas Eve, after a little over a year of dating.
The couple reportedly met through a mutual friend at Niemi’s birthday party.
Niemi met her late husband Patrick Swayze when they were both teens at his mother’s dance studio in Texas. Swayze passed in September of 2009 of pancreatic cancer which he battled for nearly two years.
Niemi discussed their relationship and his illness in a best selling book, “Worth Fighting For: Love, Loss and Moving Forward.”
Lisa previously said moving on would be difficult, but that she was open to re-marrying at some point in the future. In 2010, the widow said, “I would love companionship love. Absolutely. I hope I’m not one of these women who never want to have another relationship. But who knows, that’s another bridge I’ll cross when I come to it. I may get there and go, I don’t know. But I like to think that I can.”
Four years later, she has now found love again.
I know I've been very private about this, but now – I am so very happy 2 share this news with you. Very happy indeed. http://t.co/vNfcFTOgSw
