“Fast & Furious” star Gal Gadot, the former Miss Israel who spent two years in the Israel Defense Forces, has been cast as Wonder Woman in “Batman vs. Superman.”
The news of the stunning 28-year-old model and actress landing the role was announced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. on Wednesday.
Gal won the Miss Israel title in 2004 and went on to represent Israel at the 2004 Miss Universe beauty pageant.
Gadot will star alongside actor Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman in the “Man of Steel” sequel from director Zack Snyder. Amy Adams will reprise her role as Lois Lane, with Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane already announced for the sequel.
Zack Snyder stated, “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
Gadot is known for her role as Gisele Harabo in the “Fast and the Furious” film series.
Gal Gadot married Israeli businessman Yaron Versano during the filming of “Fast & Furious” in September 2008. Their welcomed a daughter named Alma was born in November 2011.
