Alec Baldwin’s stalker Genevieve Sabourin cried in court today after she was found guilty on all counts and sentenced to six months in prison.
Sabourin was found guilty of aggravated harassment, stalking, and attempted criminal contempt among 23 other counts.
Alec’s own former friend, producer Martin Bregman called the actor a liar after Baldwin tried to pin the affair with Genevieve on him. Most seem to think Baldwin was afraid of his now-wife finding out about his hook-up with the Canadian actress.
Sabourin told the judge, “I’ve done nothing wrong, you’re making a mistake”, before being led away in handcuffs from the Manhattan court.
She was told to have no contact with Baldwin or his family for five years and received a $250 fine.
Judge Mandelbaum read out his verdict, stating, “You had no right to continue communications or pursue contact you knew to be unwanted and unwelcome. Your relentless and escalating campaign of threats and in person appearances in private spaces served at a minimum to harass annoy and alarm Mr. Baldwin”.
The judge also stated that Sabourin’s conduct throughout this trial demonstrated an utter lack of respect of the law and the legal system. Mandelbaum told her, “The rules of civil society apply to you as well as everyone else”.
The judge also referenced Sabourin’s alleged relationship with Baldwin but said that regardless of what had happened in the past, it bore no relation to her actions.
Yesterday, Judge Mandelbaum jailed Sabourin for 30 days for contempt of court after finally losing patience over Sabourin’s outbursts.
Sabourin, 41, told the packed courtroom that Alec Baldwin seduced her with the promise “of the night of your life” before having sex with her and leaving before she woke up the next morning.
Sabourin said that Baldwin, 55, told her that he “wanted to wake up every morning next to her and make her an omelet every day for the rest of her life”.
In earlier testimony, Sabourin claimed that Alec Baldwin first came onto her while he was still married to Kim Basinger and that he took her on a dinner date in 2010. After taking her on a backstage tour of a Broadway show, she said they went for dinner together at Elio’s.
She said they remained in contact by email and that they had phone sex.
An attorney asked why she continued to contact the actor even after he asked her to stop. She stated that every time he did that, he continued to call her.
Genevieve said, “I was confused because every time he asked me to stop calling, he would get in contact – actually even more so than usual. He wanted to make sure the fish was on the hook. He reeled me in, that’s what he does.”
A video was released of Genevieve Sabourin trying to visit Alec at his apartment.
