Casey’s wife, Jean Casem, is refusing to let family see the 81-year-old with advanced Parkinson’s disease. What the heck?
Casey’s children Kerri, Julie and Mike arrived at their father’s estate to demand Karem’s second wife Jean let them see their father.
The former host of America’s Top 40 for three decades has not been heard from in three months.
Casey Kasem’s children and other family members showed up at his home to attempt to see him, but Jean called police in an effort to get the group to leave the property.
Kerri Kasem, a radio and television host, said their wanting to see their father has nothing to do with money. She and her siblings already know they have been excluded from their father’s will (probably at the urging of Jean). They just want to see their father.
Kerri said, “My dad is very sick, and we have been completely shut off from him for the last three months. There is no money issue here, we just want to see our dad. We love him, and everyone knows his kids and grandkids are a source of joy for him. It’s cruel to keep us from seeing our dad. We don’t want any money from Jean. We don’t care about that. We were raised well, and we support ourselves.”
Casey’s brother, who hasn’t spoken to Jean in the 33 years since her marriage to the DJ, said Jean has had a “strained” relationship the family for years.
Casey Kasem, in addition to his popular radio show, voiced the character of Shaggy in the “Scooby-Do” franchise.
