LeBron James married his longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson in San Diego on Saturday at the Grand Del Mar hotel.
The 28-year-old multimillionaire and his bride tied the knot in the lavish hotel’s Capella Chapel in a three-day celebration with close friends and family.
The high school sweethearts, who have two children together, announced their engagement in January last year.
Their wedding guests included LeBron’s teammate Dwayne Wade and his girlfriend Gabrielle Union, NBA players Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony, and Jay-Z and Beyonce. Jay-Z and Beyonce reportedly performed at the wedding reception.
LeBron James and Savannah Brinson began the festivities on Friday with a barbecue and ended with a farewell brunch on Sunday.
Hotel staff and guests were asked to sign non-disclosure agreements, with hundreds in attendance.
A source said of James, “He cut the list down because he didn’t want to have 1,000 people at the wedding”.
LeBron and Savannah have dated since high school and became engaged on New Years Eve 2011. They have two sons: LeBron Jr., 11, and Bryce, 6.
Savannah spoke briefly about the wedding last spring, saying she was both excited and nervous. LeBron discussed the wedding plans previously, simply stating “that Savannah gets whatever she wants on her day, the wedding day she always dreamed of.”
James is a four-time NBA Most Valuable Player, and he will be back in Miami later this month to resume preparing for training camp.
