It’s interesting that when most of us try and imagine the lives of celebrities that we think of having everything our heart’s desire, living the high life.
But Hollywood stars are just normal human beings, with some celebs dealing with horrific tragedies in their lives.
Our life experiences, good and bad, help us develop in the people we are today. Let’s delve into the tragedies of famous celebrities that seemed to make them stronger.
Actress Gabrielle Union was only 19-years-old when an armed man came into the mall store where she worked at closing time and raped her.
She revealed, “When the man who raped me came into the store, my heart said run, but I was raised to be polite and not make others uncomfortable. Women are constantly second-guessing our instincts but you know your body, and your body is telling you something is wrong… We are given instincts for a reason.” So true!
Most of us think of Kelsey Grammer as the cocky character he played as Frasier on television, but the actor’s real-life drama could be made into a movie.
Grammer was just 13-years old when his father was shot and killed in 1968. In 1975, his younger sister was abducted, raped, and murdered by a serial killer. Her body was discovered and Kelsey had to pick up her corpse in Colorado and drive back to Florida with her body.
The half-brothers of the actor both died in scuba diving accidents. And his close friend and the creator of the character Frasier Crane, David Angell, and his wife were both killed during the 911 attacks.
It’s amazing all that Kelsey Grammer has gone through.
Keanu Reeves, the star of “Matrix” and “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”, has had so much heartbreak in his life. Much more than we even realized until writing this post.
Keanu’s father abandoned his family when he was only a toddler. He lost his good friend, actor River Phoenix, who died of drug-induced heart failure outside the Viper Room in West Hollywood.
In December of 1999, Reeves and his then-girlfriend Jennifer Syme gave birth during her eighth month of pregnancy to a stillborn daughter named Ava.
Keanu and Jennifer split up but remained good friends. Just a year later, Jennifer lost control control of her 1999 Jeep Cherokee and was thrown from the car and died.
Boxer Mike Tyson is definitely controversial, but tragedy struck when Tyson’s 4-year-old daughter Exodus died four days after she was found hanged from a treadmill cable in his home. Tyson recently admitted he was truly sober after being told he could die from drinking and drug use.
Canadian singer Shania Twain grew up poor and there was often little food in her home. Her mother and stepfather died in a car accident when she was 21-years-old. She took her three younger siblings in so they wouldn’t have to go into foster care. She performed in bars and at resorts to care for them.
If that wasn’t enough, Shania’s ex-husband, Mutt Lange, cheated on her and had an affair with Shania’s good friend.
Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and her 7-year-old nephew were murdered by her sister Julia’s estranged husband, William Balfour. Balfour was sentenced to life in prison.
Charlize Theron, the South African model and Oscar-winning actress, went through hell as a child and teenager. Her father was reportedly a raging alcoholic that was very abusive.
During one drunken rage, her father attacked her and her mother and threatened to shoot them. Theron’s mother wrestled the shotgun out of his hand and shot and killed him right in front of 15-year-old Charlize.
