Amanda Bynes’ parents, Rick and Lynn, are reportedly headed to court on Friday in Ventura County, California to request temporary conservatorship of their daughter.
Amanda’s erratic behavior has only worsened and her parents believe she is unable to care for herself personally or financially.
A source said, “Rick and Lynn will appear before the judge on Friday to ask for a temporary conservatorship of their daughter, Amanda. Her parents will both be petitioning to be the temporary proposed conservators, and want control of her personal and financial affairs.”
The insider adds, “In California, the proposed conservator must show that the conservatee is unable to care for themselves, and is a danger to others. Amanda’s parents are hopeful that the judge will take into consideration that she tried to start a fire in a stranger’s driveway, and burned her pants in the process”.
Amanda Bynes will not be charged with a crime for starting the fire in a homeowner’s driveway.
Police and prosecutors view her behavior as that of a mentally ill person.
On Monday after the fire, Amanda Bynes was caught on the security tape at a liquor store as she rushed in to wash gasoline off her Pomeranian puppy she had accidentally doused in gas.
The incident happened minutes after Amanda allegedly used a canister of gasoline to start a fire outside a random elderly woman’s home in Thousand Oaks, California.
The owner of the store said the cashier detected a “strong odor” of gasoline and observed Bynes attempting to rinse off the dog in a sink in the back area.
Amanda is currently being held under a 5150 hold for mental health evaluation in the hospital. The actress is reportedly exhibiting signs of schizophrenia.
Doctors will seek a two week extension to her 5150 psychiatric hold in order for doctors to properly diagnose her.
It’s a sad situation and we certainly hope Amanda Bynes can get the treatment she needs.
