Kristen Bell celebrated the Supreme Court ruling in favor of same sex marriage in California today by proposing to Dax Shepard on Twitter.
The couple actually became engaged in 2009 after two years together, but vowed to wait until gay marriage was legal in their home state to tie the knot.
Kristen Bell, 32, and actor Dax Shepard, 38, have a three-month-old daughter, Lincoln, have waited to marry out of respect for their gay friends.
The Supreme Court effectively ruled that it was not legal to prevent same-sex spouses from receiving the same benefits that heterosexual couples receive.
Kristen Bell has previously said, “The reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my best friends. That’s why we’ve been so hesitant. Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We’re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.”
The cute actress celebrated by popping the question to her man on Twitter today:
