Miley Cyrus stopped by “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” discussing how her Australian beau, Liam Hemsworth, popped the question after she sang “Lilac Wine” acoustically with her band in her backyard.
Miley told Jay, “About 20 minutes after the recording of that song, it’s one of Liam’s favorite songs. He asked me to marry him like 20 minutes later. So while I was singing that song I had no idea. And he’s sitting there, and I’m like, ‘He’s looking at me funny!’ And then, I knew.”
The singer/actress adds, “The guy who lives next to me actually did one of my tours, which is kind of awesome. Whenever I write a new song I’m like, ‘Hey, you hear that over there? How’s it coming? Should I put that out and make that happen?’ ”
Miley tells Jay the details of her proposal from Liam:
Miley and her fiance Liam, who announced their engagement in June, have now gotten matching tattoos and showed them off on Twitter.
The script tats are actually from a 1910 speech by former President Teddy Roosevelt.
Cyrus’s tattoo, written in a lowercase script, reads, “so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
Hemsworth’s ink says “if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.”
