Mark Abrahamian, the guitarist for the band Starship, died after performing with the band in Nebraska on Sunday night.
The 46-year-old rocker reportedly died of a heart attack shortly after leaving the stage in Norfolk.
Road manager Scott Harrison said Abrahamian collapsed after a performance last night after complaining of feeling ill.
Harrison revealed, “We had just finished the show. We were back in the dressing room eating. He apparently told the bass player he wasn’t feeling well”.
Abrahamian went into the next room and was talking to his fiance on the phone when he collapsed. The musician was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Starship’s concert in Orem, Utah on Monday has been cancelled following the sudden tragedy.
The band released a statement on Twitter, writing, “We are shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of our guitar player Mark Abrahamian. We will miss you, brother. Rest in peace, Mark.”
The band also posted a tribute on its Facebook page, writing: “Mark was a kind, thoughtful and innovative soul. He was also a friend and family member. Mark also happened to be one hell of a guitar player. We are devastated by the loss of our brother and just dealing with it the best we can.”
Mark Abrahamian has toured with Starship for over ten years. He has also worked with Toto, Christopher Cross and American Idol star Ace Young.
