Singer Wynonna Judd’s husband has of two months has been hospitalized after he was involved in a serious accident on Saturday.
Wynonna was traveling down a highway near Hill City, South Dakota before her concert later that night while her husband, Michael “Cactus” Moser” following her on his motorcycle.
Moser, 55, drifted across the center of the highway and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
Paramedics arrived and Moser was airlifted by helicopter to Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Moser “severed” his leg in the crash and doctors had to amputate his leg above the knee.
The rep also says Moser had to undergo surgery on his hand, which is of particular concern because he is the drummer in Judd’s band.
Judd was not hurt in the accident, nor was the driver of the car Moser collided with.
Police have cited Moser, the drummer in Wynonna’s band The Big Noise, for crossing the road’s center line and for not having a license to drive a motorcycle.
Judd postponed her show at the Deadwood Mountain Grand Hotel & Casino on Saturday to remain by her husband’s side. Wynonna also canceled her shows in Canada next week, but plans to reschedule them.
In a statement, Judd says, “The outpouring of prayer and support from friends, family and fans has been a blessing to both Cactus and I. Cactus is a champion. I love him deeply and I will not leave his side.”
Judd and Moser tied the knot in June 2012.
