Rodney King’s Death Ruled Accidental: Cocaine, PCP, & Weed In His System

Authorities have determined that Rodney King’s death was an accidental drowning, but reveal he had numerous drugs in his system when he died.

King died in June after his fiance found his body at the bottom of his backyard pool.

Rodney King reportedly had cocaine, marijuana and PCP in his system at the time of his death. In addition to the illegal drugs, King also had a blood-alcohol level of .06 percent.

“He was in a state of drug- and alcohol-induced delirium at the time of the terminal event and either fell or jumped into the swimming pool,” according to the San Bernadino County coroner’s report.

King was the black motorist beaten by Los Angeles police officers in 1991. The officers’ acquittal sparked the devastating 1992 Los Angeles riot.

Kelly, who was a juror in King’s lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles in 1994, told police that King was an “avid swimmer” but that wasn’t.

She said she had just spoken to him before going back inside the home. She heard a splash and saw him at the bottom of the pool.
