The late Amy Winehouse’s former husband is reportedly fighting for his life after a drug and alcohol binge.
The former couple were known for their toxic relationship, but even Blake’s current girlfriend Sarah admits the couple were “soul mates”.
Blake Fielder-Civil, who married singer Winehouse in Florida in 2007, was found choking on his own vomit in bed by his girlfriend Sarah Aspin. She is the mother of his 15-month-old son Jack.
Blake was put on life support after swallowing his tongue and suffered multi-organ failure.
Fielder-Civil, whose pop star ex-wife Winehouse passed away almost exactly a year ago, has battled a heroin addiction.
Blake met Aspin while he was in rehab and revealed they had been making plans to marry before his relapse.
She adds, “He’s never really been a drinker, but when he got home with this friend, he was slurring his words and staggering. I thought he was on something. I was very angry because he’d been doing so well.”
“[The] next morning I went to get up and heard a horrid scratching and grating breathing sound. I looked round and saw Blake lying there completely grey. His eyes were rolled back and his mouth was locked together.”
Sarah revealed, “The doctors say they don’t know the prognosis. They said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection. They let me in to hold his hand after 45 minutes. I found out later that they did that because they thought he was going to die.”
Doctors have told Aspin that Fielder-Civil may suffer permanent brain damage as a result of the incident and have said that he is still “critically ill”.
“I am devastated, just devastated, at what has happened. I just want to cry all the time – but I have to be strong for our son Jack,” Aspen confessed.
