TMZ reports that “Jersey Shore” star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has entered rehab.
Sorrentino, 29, reportedly checked into an inpatient treatment facility seeking help with substance abuse issues.
An insider states, “He felt like he had this image to live up to, so he would always take free drinks and try to be the life of the party. It was troubling to watch.”
But, the reality star’s rep would only say that Mike “has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule.”
MTV made an announcement this week saying that the Jersey Shore stars will be returning for a sixth season.
Situation released a statement saying he has “voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion.”
“I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys.”
Sorrentino’s former co-star Angelina Pivarnik claims he’s done drugs for years.
Angelina told the Murphy in the Morning Show, “I don’t understand how nobody caught on to him doing a mass amount of drugs!
“Obviously he’s been using the money not for charity, and stuff like that to help kids out, to help people that are less fortunate, but using blow.”
Angelina says Mike should have sought help a long time ago, adding, “He’s hideous! He’s Popeye on crack.
“He deserves to freakin’ stay in rehab for the next 10 years! Please stay in the rehab and don’t come out!
“I can’t believe he didn’t go to rehab three years ago.”
