Former SNL Writer Joe Bodolai Commits Suicide At 63

Comedy writer Joe Bodolai has been found dead in an apparent suicide at a Los Angeles hotel by cleaning staff.

The former Saturday Night Live writer, 63, who helped write the first draft of the funny movie Wayne’s World, was found dead on Monday with a bottle of anti-freeze liquid and gatorade in the room.

In a post on his blog on Friday titled If This Was Your Last Day Alive What Would You Do?, Bodolai listed “Stuff I Would Like to Have Seen In My Life” and “Things I Regret”, which included his “inability to conquer my alcoholism”.

Bodolai also listed “Things I Am Proud Of”, which include his family, his work on U.S. TV show Saturday Night Live, and “writing the first draft of Wayne’s World with Mike Myers”.

Joe wrote on Facebook on December 23, stating, “I’m alone this year and am volunteering serving Christmas dinner to the homeless. Perhaps I will be one, but I love all of you and if I make it to next year let’s make it a morally, spiritually, better and funnier year.”

Bodolai finished his blog entry by writing, “I don’t need replies or comments or anything. I need to feel the good that I did and whatever good I have ever done for you is enough for me. May you all have the happy lives you deserve. Thank you all for being in my life. Love, Joe.”
