Demi Lovato Slams Disney Over Eating Disorder Joke

Demi Lovato launched a verbal attack on Disney after they aired a joke about eating disorders on one of their shows.

The singer and actress, 19, who went to rehab last year to deal with bulimia and cutting issues, became enraged after watching the Disney show “Shake It Up”, where a character stated, “I could just eat you up. Well, if I ate.”

Lovato didn’t find the joke funny at all and took to Twitter, writing, “I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress’ from the pressures of an Eating Disorder and yet still make jokes about that very disease. nice.”

Demi referred to former child stars Raven-Symone and Hilary Duff, writing, “And is it just me or are the actress(es) (on Disney Channel) getting Thinner And Thinner…. I miss the days of Raven, and Lizzie McGuire.”

The singer, who quit the Disney program “Sonny with a Chance” last year, also sent a tweet directly to Disney, writing, “Dear Disney Channel, Eating Disorders ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT.”

A rep for Disney was informed of Demi’s tweets and issued an apology over the bad joke.

The Disney spokesperson replied, “we hear you & are pulling both episodes as quickly as possible & reevaluating them… It’s Never our intention to make light of eating disorders!”

Demi accepted the apology and wrote back, “thank you”.

Do you find the joke in bad taste or is Demi just too sensitive on the subject?
