Convicted sex offender Phillip Garrido and his wife Nancy entered guilty pleas in court today to raping and kidnapping Jaycee Dugard when she was only 11 years-old.
Jaycee Dugard was kidnapped by sickos Phillip and Nancy Garrido at age 11 and was kept prisoner for almost 20 years. Both Phillip and his wife entered guilty pleas on Thursday in court.
The guilty pleas came as part of a deal with prosecutors that will spare Jaycee Dugard and her two daughters from having to testify at trial. Dugard had the two children after being raped by her captor.
“I’m relieved that Phillip and Nancy Garrido have finally acknowledged their guilt and confessed to their crimes against me and my family,” Jaycee said in a statement.
Phillip Garrido, 60, faces a maximum sentence of 431 years to life in prison after entering guilty pleas to 14 kidnapping and sexual assault charges.
Nancy Garrido, 55, pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping and one count of rape, facing a maximum sentence of 36 years to life.
The plea deal only became possible after Dugard, 30, was willing to testify against the couple.
Dugard was kidnapped from her family’s street in June of 1991 while walking to her school bus stop.
Jaycee was discovered in August 2009 after Phillip Garrido took them to a meeting with his parole officer.
Jaycee Dugard received a $20 million settlement from the state.
