Actor Len Lesser, who played the role of Uncle Leo on “Seinfeld” has died at the age of 88.
Len Lesser passed away yesterday morning from cancer-related pneumonia at the age of 88.
Lesser was known for his role as the grouchy but sweet ‘Uncle Leo” on television’s long-running comedy “Seinfeld”.
The actor was admitted to a rehabilitation center near his home a few weeks ago and his family said he passed away in his sleep.
Len’s daughter, Michelle Lesser, spoke of her father’s career stating, “Heaven got a great comedian and actor today. The outpouring of sympathy we’ve already received has been amazing and is so greatly appreciated. Thank you to all the people who helped make my father’s last journey special and surrounded with love”.
Although Lesser was only featured in 15 episodes of “Seinfeld”, his one-liners made him one of the most loved characters on the show.
Lesser also had a recurring role on “Everybody Loves Raymond” as a friend of Raymond’s father.
The actor is survived by two children, Michele and David, and three grandchildren.
