Movie star and pin-up Jane Russell has died at the age of 89.
Actress Jane Russell has died from respiratory problems in her Santa Maria, California home on Monday.
Russell became famous overnight after starring in “The Outlaw” in 1943, then went on to play Calamity Jane with Bob Hope in “The Paleface. But Jane’s most famous role might have been opposite Marilyn Monroe in 1953’s “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”.
Jane Russell was the number one pin-up girl of U.S. troops that were stationed overseas during World War Two, and her sexy curves earned her a place as spokesmodel for Playtex bras.
A funeral service will be held at Pacific Christian Church in Santa Maria on March 23.
