The Slam Dunk Contest 2011 was held in Los Angeles, with Blake Griffin emerging as the winner. Check out Blake Griffin performing a slam dunk jumping over a car in video below.
Blake Griffin beat out JaVale McGee of Washington in the final after they overtook last year’s runner-up DeMar DeRozan and 2008’s champion Serge Ibaka.
The Crenshaw Select Choir sang “I Believe I Can Fly” as Blake Griffin ran, jumped over the car and threw down a two-handed dunk.
Griffin cleared the hood of a 2011 Kia Optima, while catching a pass from teammate Baron Davis out of the sunroof!
Blake grew up watching slam dunk contests with his brother in Oklahoma and said he thought of the car dunk from the beginning.
“When they first came to me “¦ they said there were no rules,” Griffin said. “I was like, “˜So I can jump over a car? Yeah? Oh, maybe I have to do it now.’ I figured I could probably clear it.
But how will Griffin top this awesome slam dunk next year? Griffin says,”I have to come up with something else. Maybe a boat next year.”
