Lady Gaga has taken to Twitter to speak of her joy at the repealing of “Don’t ask, don’t tell”, which required gay soldiers to keep their sexuality hidden.
Singer Lady Gaga said she “can’t hold back the tears” due to the repealing of the army policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”.
The singer took to Twitter to voice her happiness at the news, which means gay and lesbian soldiers won’t have to hide their sexuality or risk losing their jobs.
Gaga tweeted, “Can’t hold back the tears + pride. We did it!! Our voice was hear + today the Senate REPEALED DADT. A triumph for equality after 17 years.
“Today I am so proud to be an American. I wish I was home so I could throw a Parade. We are on the way to full equal (sic)”
Ellen DeGeneres, Kathy Griffin, Katy Perry and Ricky Martin have also tweeted their happiness upon hearing the news.
