People spokeswoman, Nancy Valentino, said Friday adding that she didn’t know how much was paid for the photos, which were expected to fetch a figure that would overshadow other celebrity baby payouts.
The money received from the twin photos will go to a foundation created by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt that focuses on helping children all over the world.
The Jolie-Pitt twins are bringing double the $6 million People paid to feature Jennifer Lopez and her newborn twins on their March cover.
“We’re thrilled to be able to feature these pictures in People,” managing editor Larry Hackett said in a statement. “They will delight our readers who have followed the growth of the Jolie-Pitt family.”
The Jolie-Pitt twin photos will also appear in the British celebrity publication Hello!. People and Hello! are said to have split the hefty price tag rumored to range between $10-$16 million. Rumors say it’s a whopping $14 million.
A preview of People magazine’s cover will be posted on People.com on Sunday afternoon. Getty Images said on Friday it had already done an exclusive photo shoot of the twins with Jolie, Pitt and the couple’s four other children, Maddox, Zahara, Pax and Shiloh — three of whom are adopted, Reuters reported.
“The Jolie-Pitt family and Getty Images have agreed that all proceeds will be used for charitable purposes,” the agency said in a statement.
The Jolie-Pitt twins, just almost a month old, became the most talked about twins in the celebrity world since the Olsen twins, even before they were born.
Angelina Jolie, 33, gave birth via a Cesarian section at the Lenval Hospital on the French Riviera on July 12. Knox weighed 5.03 pounds and Vivienne weighed 5 pounds.
Right after the twins birth, the mayor of Nice held a press conference and gushed in his praise for the glamorous couple. He said it was a great honor that such big stars had chosen his city to give birth. He also announced that the children will be honorary citizens of Nice for the rest of their lives and will also have the opportunity to apply for French citizenship when they turn 18.
Meanwhile, Grandpa Jon Voight told “Fox and Friends” he is surprised by his daughter’s maternal nature.
“You know, she wasn’t the kind that played with dolls, and then all of the sudden she has all of these children,” the actor said Thursday on the Fox News Channel.
“She loves kids though,” he added. “She’s very playful. It’s wonderful.”
As far as his daughter and grandchildren are concerned, the actor said “They’re healthy and they’re doing well and I’m so happy. And of course the parents are really happy and over the moon. It’s a wonderful time.”
Don’t forget to visit People at 7 p.m. (if their site can handle it) when they debut a few pictures from the 30 PAGES WORTH OF SHOTS that will be available in this upcoming magazine edition.
An excerpt from the People Magazine interview with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt:
They are just 3 weeks old, but twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline are about to take the world by storm.
In an exclusive interview and photos, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie offer PEOPLE an intimate look at their growing family.
“It is chaos, but we are managing it and having a wonderful time,” Jolie tells PEOPLE of daily life at the Chí¢teau Miraval in Provence, France, where the couple’s four older children ““ Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2 ““ have been enjoying a summer of outdoor play (hide-and-seek is a favorite) on the chí¢teau’s sprawling grounds.
Adds Pitt: “[It’s] still a cuckoo’s nest.”
Fortunately, they already have some household helpers. “[Shiloh] and Z pick out [the twins’] clothes and help change and hold them,” says Jolie. “It’s sweet ““ they are little mommies.”
Jolie-Pitt twins also grace the cover of Hello Magazine in a 17 page spread. Here is an excerpt from their article:
“It is chaos,” laughs the Hollywood actress on life at the sprawling Chateau Miraval in Provence, “but we are managing it and having a wonderful time.”
Doting dad Brad, meanwhile, confides: “Viv is proving to resemble Ange in spirit, attitude and physicality”¦ And Knox, he’s a bit of me.”
Excerpt from Hello article:
On finding out you were having twins:
A: We were in shock and could not stop laughing.
B: We bust into hysterics. My sister had made a joke about twins literally the night before, because my grandparents and sis both had twins. Angie was on the table during the sonogram, and we were in hysterics.
We didn’t see this one coming.
On choosing the names Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline:
B: The name Vivienne came to us early, as if she named herself. She has always been Viv. And Marcheline is to honour Angie’s late mother. Knox is a family name – my grandfather’s – and Leon is a classic French name.
On their personalities:
B: I dare to say that Viv is proving to resemble Angie in spirit, attitude and physicality. She is quite elegant like her mother. And Knox, he’s a bit of me. He likes music like his dad. When he was born he looked like Putin!
On Maddox as a big brother:
B: This is Mad’s fourth and fifth time at becoming an older bro. He’s asking us when we can have more!
On Shiloh as a big sister:
A: Shiloh calls them her babies. She and Zahara pick out their clothes, help change and hold them. It’s sweet, they are like little mommies.
On bedrest for Angelina:
A: Brad and the kids came a few nights each week and spent the night. So we never went too long without seeing eachother. I also watched The War by Kevin Burns. I figured it would be the only chance I had to watch a 15-hour documentary.
On food cravings:
A: My only craving was cheese and milk. Still is.
On her post c-section recovery:
A: The first few days were a little difficult but we had a great team of doctors and they helped me feel better quickly.
B: She’s over-achieving.
On using fertility drugs or IVF to become pregnant:
A: “We were in shock [when we heard about the rumors] and could not stop laughing “˜If they had been conceived through IVF we would have been happy to discuss it.’ “But we have been fortunate never to have had fertility problems.”
