A nasty nine car wreck today at the Sprint Cup Watkins Glen race. Bobby Labonte limped away from the car crash and was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
Scary car crash involving 9 cars Sunday which brought out the red flag, with eight laps to go!
Bobby Labonte limped away from the crash scene and was taken to a local hospital, where thankfully he was treated and released.
The crash began when David Gilliland and Michael McDowell banged door panels when making the turn. Their collision caused the cars to slide and hit a barrier. Gilliland’s car bounced from the tire barrier and was hit by Labonte’s car, which sent pieces of metal flying.
Bobby Labonte climbed out but was obviously in lots of pain.
After Labonte was in on the crash, other cars sped along unable to see what had happened ahead of them. Hornish’s car slammed into the wreckage too. Hornish also was not injured and returned to the race.
In total the wreck involved nine cars, and others involved included Dave Blaney, Joe Nemechek, Reed Sorenson, Max Papis, and Michael Waltrip.
Thankfully no one was seriously injured in this huge car accident.
Kyle Busch took the win at the Sprint Cup Watkins Glen.
