Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, former light heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighter Championships, was arrested on suspicion of felony evading, hit-and-run and reckless driving.
Rampage Jackson, the driver of a lifted, gray pick-up truck left crashed cars, shredded tires and sparks this afternoon when he led police on a short chase from the southbound 55 freeway exit onto Newport Boulevard where he hit at least three cars, police said.
Rampage Jackson, the driver of the truck, hit two cars at 19th Street and Newport Boulevard, then fled the scene at about 1:13 p.m., Lt. Paul Dondero said.
A Costa Mesa police officer saw the driver southbound approaching 17th Street and tried to pull him over, police said. There, he hit at least one more car before continuing to flee police, now heading south toward the Balboa Peninsula, Dondero said. Some time after that, the truck blew a tire but continued to drive on its rims, Dondero said.
Jackson continued southbound onto the Balboa Peninsula running several more red lights, causing pedestrians to scramble out of his way.
Rampage Jackson’s vehicle finally came to a stop at 18th St and Newport Blvd in the city of Newport Beach. Jackson was taken into custody by Costa Mesa Officers without incident.
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was transported to the Costa Mesa City Jail and booked for; Felony Evading, Reckless Driving and Hit and Run. He was transported to the Orange County Jail and is being held in lieu of a $25,000.00 bail.
There are reports that UFC president, Dana White, flew to Orange County upon learning of the arrest and said he was driving to the county jail to post bail for Jackson.
This was pretty serious, police approached Rampage Jackson’s truck with guns drawn, per TMZ. The funny part of the story is that Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was driving a truck with his image plastered on the side, as he was running from the cops!
