MGM being sued for unpaid royalties to Walter Brooks.

Walter Brooks died in 1958. The estate of Dorothy Brooks, Walter Brooks’ widow, has filed a lawsuit against MGM.

The lawsuit was filed in the LA County Superior Court, on Sat. June 28. It claimed that MGM had released 2 DVD collections featuring “Best of Mr. Ed.” Thus, they need to pay at least $378, 396 in royalties.

Walter Brooks was the original creator of “Ed Takes the Pledge”,a story about a talking horse. This was adapted into a TV comedy series called Mister Ed. Brooks was given credit for the character. He had written 26 books on “Freddy the Pig” and these were his best known works.
