Teen girls in Massachusetts made a pact to become pregnant and raise their babies together. Did Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy influence these 17 pregnant girls?
Jamie Lynn Spears, the actress and sister of the singer Britney Spears, created quite a media buzz, when at the age of 16, she announced her pregnancy.
Now she has her precious baby girl named Maddie Briann, weighing in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
Jamie Lynn tried to stay out of the public eye during the pregnancy and do what she could to set her life on the right track. She became engaged to the 19 year old father of her baby, Casey Aldridge, passed her GED exam, and purchase a home in Liberty, Mississippi.
As things seemed to be going well for Jamie Lynn, until a pregnancy pact hit the news, at Gloucester High School in Massachusetts, which Time Magazine says is not a coincidence:
“As summer vacation begins, 17 girls at Gloucester High School are expecting babies “” more than four times the number of pregnancies the 1,200-student school had last year. [“¦] All it took was a few simple questions before nearly half the expecting students, none older than 16, confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. Then the story got worse. “We found out one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy,” the principal says, shaking his head.”
None of the 17 pregnant girls are over age 16.
The people of the town has started it’s “finger pointing” and blames movies that glamorize teen pregnancy like “Juno” and “Knocked Up”. And obviously many are also considering the most famous teen mother to blame, Jamie Lynn Spears.
