Chad Kroeger admits he felt a little “embarrassed” to tell his parents about his engagement to Avril Lavigne.

The Nickleback frontman, who proposed to Avril after a whirlwind romance, hasn’t even introduced his fiance to his mother.

Kroeger said he felt uncomfortable telling his mother about the engagement because she is a huge fan of Avril Lavigne.

Chad explained, “You never know what your parents are going to say when you tell them you’re getting married – especially when it’s with someone they haven’t met yet. My mom is a huge fan of Avril’s, so putting her on speakerphone and telling her the news was hilarious and equally embarrassing.”

Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger celebrated their engagement by partying in Las Vegas.

Eyewitnesses said the Canadian couple were “super cuddly and affectionate” as they drank Dom Perignon champagne and Grey Goose vodka in Sin City on Tuesday to celebrate their engagement.

The Nickelback frontman proposed to Avril Lavigne after only six months of dating on August 8.

A wedding date hasn’t been set yet, but it looks like Vodka will definitely be on the drink menu for the celebration.

Chad revealed the 27-year-old singer is a big fan of the liquor, stating, “She can pound the vodka.”

Kroeger, 37, said they had “amazing” chemistry while working on new music together in the studio.

“I knew I was falling for her,” Kroeger admitted. “It was incredibly powerful and something I’ll never forget.”

The singer and the reality TV star reportedly ended their relationship because Avril was ready to marry and Brody wasn’t.

An insider told Life & Style magazine, “They decided to end their relationship. It wasn’t working out, and they wanted to go their separate ways.

“She wanted to settle down, but he wasn’t exactly ready. They had been having problems starting in the summer with her tour because she was on the road all the time. It put a strain on their relationship.”

Lavigne, who was previously married to Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley, recently said she’d like to marry and start a family soon.
