Angelina Jolie’s brave decision to have a double mastectomy made headline news around the world on Tuesday. She also will have her ovaries removed in the near future.

Jolie’s own father, actor Jon Voight, was just as surprised as the rest of the world and found out by reading the news online.

Angelina Jolie has revealed her shocking news that she underwent a preventive double mastectomy earlier this year in an article called “My Medical Choice”.

The 37-year-old Academy Award winner stated that after genetic testing she learned she carries the “faulty” BRCA1 gene, giving her an estimated 87% chance of breast cancer and 50% chance of ovarian cancer.
