Amy Winehouse’s family and friends got together on Sunday to bid a final farewell to the late singer, just days after what would have been Amy’s 29th birthday.
Mitch Winehouse paid tribute to his daughter’s “short but dynamic” life in a Jewish ceremony where they unveiled her headstone.
The black gravestone had pink writing and a songbird that reportedly also pays tribute to Amy’s beloved grandmother, Cynthia.
A crowd of around 70 mourners gathered in Edgware, North London as Winehouse’s ashes were buried next to the memorial.
Mitch tweeted about the service, writing, “Today we consecrated the memorial stone for Amy and my mother. It was an emotional and joyous day.”
The late Amy Winehouse’s ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, went on a deadly alcohol and drug binge after reading old text messages from the late singer that she sent while he was in jail.
The 30-year-old was hospitalized earlier last week after his girlfriend found him in bed choking on his own vomit. Blake is currently in a medically-induced coma.
Fielder-Civil was serving time in prison for burglary when his ex-wife died of alcohol poisoning last year. He was just released two weeks ago.
His mother, Georgette, revealed Blake recently discovered unread text messages from the late singer that she sent before her death that left him overcome with grief.
Georgette claims Amy asked if she could be godmother to Fielder-Civil’s son Jack, now 15 months, who was born to Sarah Aspin after their split.
The late Amy Winehouse’s former husband is reportedly fighting for his life after a drug and alcohol binge.
The former couple were known for their toxic relationship, but even Blake’s current girlfriend Sarah admits the couple were “soul mates”.
Blake Fielder-Civil, who married singer Winehouse in Florida in 2007, was found choking on his own vomit in bed by his girlfriend Sarah Aspin. She is the mother of his 15-month-old son Jack.
Fielder-Civil, whose pop star ex-wife Winehouse passed away almost exactly a year ago, has battled a heroin addiction.
Blake met Aspin while he was in rehab and revealed they had been making plans to marry before his relapse.
She adds, “He’s never really been a drinker, but when he got home with this friend, he was slurring his words and staggering. I thought he was on something. I was very angry because he’d been doing so well.”
Director Reg Traviss, who dated the late singer Amy Winehouse at the time of her death, has been charged with two counts of rape.
Traviss has been formally charged under his full name Reginald for an alleged rape that took place between December 29, 2011 and January 1, 2012.
Rebecca Mundy, a lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service, issued a statement saying, “I have authorized the Metropolitan Police to charge Reginald Traviss with two counts of rape”.
Reg will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on July 17.
Love letters written to Blake Fielder-Civil by Amy Winehouse showed that the late singer was begging for a baby with her former husband.
Blake’s mother Georgette went public with the contents of the love letters, saying Winehouse even continued to sign her letters to him as “your wife” even though they had divorced.
Georgette said, “Blake has a tarnished reputation but he and Amy were in love. They fell in love and drugs got in the way. The letters show Amy was totally in love with Blake. She was besotted.”
She adds, “In one letter Amy wrote that Blake was definitely getting her pregnant within two months. She talked about conceiving the baby – which they would call Lucky – on Valentine’s Day.”
“Even after their divorce Amy told Blake she’d love him forever. They carried on talking to each other until a few months before she died. The last letter must have been in March 2010. She told Blake he knew her better than anyone,” she adds.
British singer Amy Winehouse left an estate worth $4.66 million after her death last year.
