Jodie Foster & Cydney Bernard may have split.

Some rumors said that Jodie Foster has split with her long time lesbian lover, Cydney Bernard. Jodie was the one who supposedly called it quits after the pair suffered a series of quarrels. They had been living together for 14 years.

This gossip came just 5 months after Jodie Foster publicly acknowledged and thanked Cydney for her contribution in their relationship. Jodie and Cydney met on the set of the movie, “Sommersby”, in 1993. For the past several years, they had been wearing matching Tiffany eternity rings on their wedding fingers.

Jodie gave birth to two children and Cydney adopted them in their shared parenting arrangement. The children were Charlie, 9, and Kit, 6.

California’s same sex marriage – Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi.

On May 15, 2008, California’s Supreme Court ruled that same sex marriages were valid. Ellen DeGeneres sprang a surprise on everyone during the live audience taping of the “Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Ellen announced that she was going to have her nuptials with her long time girlfriend, Portia de Rossi. Portia was seated in the audience. After Ellen dropped her announcement, the audience in the studio was overjoyed. They gave the two love birds a standing ovation.

This episode of the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” would be broadcast on Friday, May 16, 2008. Ellen hinted that she was registered at Crate & Barrel; a gift and bridal registry for people to purchase presents.

Virgie Arthur, Anna Nicole Smith’s mother, sues TMZ & Howard Stern.

Virgie Arthur, the mother of Anna Nicole Smith, has started the procedure to sue a website, TMZ, and Howard K. Stern, for marring her image.

Virgie had applied to gain custody of Anna Nicole’s daughter, Dannielynn, after the death of Anna. Virgie’s lawsuit claimed that the website, TMZ, was collaborating with Howard K. Stern. It alleged that the two named parties desired to prevent her from gaining custody of Dannielynn.

On April 19, 2007, TMZ published a post on how Virgie Arthur had a son with her stepbrother. Virgie did not deny the claim.

Virgie and her stepbrother did not share any common blood but were related through their parents’ marriage. Virgie has requested financial compensation as an apology for running the post that ruined her image.

Tonya Harding’s confessions in The Tonya Tapes.

Tonya Harding, once a celebrated ice figure skater, has published her new book; The Tonya Tapes. She appeared in NBC’s TV show to discuss about her book. She said that the world did not know her and her book would tell her story.

Tonya fell from grace in 1994 when her then husband, Jeff Gillooly, was charged and convicted over an attack on her skating competitor, Nancy Kerrigan. Nancy was hit on her knee by a man using a metal bar. Nancy recovered and won a silver medal. Tonya finished in 8^th place. Jeff was sentenced to 2 years’ jail. He and Tonya had divorced after that.

Jeff Gillooly had changed his name to Jeff Stone. He refused to comment after NBC contacted him.

Tonya alleged that her mother abused her when she performed poorly in skating. NBC contacted Mrs. Harding and she denied using physical abuse on Tonya.

After her retirement from figure skating, Tonya had tried her hand at celebrity boxing.

Lori Drew & Ashley Grills’ involvement in Megan Meier’s suicide.

Lori Drew has been indicted by a federal grand jury in LA. She was charged for participating in a MySpace online hoax.

Lori allegedly created a fake MySpace account called Josh Evans. He was supposed to be a boy, aged 16. “Josh” made friends with Megan Meier, 13, a friend of Lori Drew’s teenaged daughter. After several weeks, Josh started a string of negative messages to Megan. Other MySpace account holders followed suit in a large cyber bullying attack on Megan.

Megan committed suicide on Oct 16, 2006. Josh’s profile disappeared from MySpace. Lori claimed that she was not responsible for creating Josh Evans. She said it was her daughter and a teen employer, Ashley Grills, who were responsible. However, Ashley had declared that Lori Drew had instructed her to create Josh Evans and masquerade as Josh. She said Lori and her daughter were also involved in the MySpace hoax.

California Supreme Court approves same sex gay marriages.

Lesbian and gay couples in California and San Francisco celebrated on Thursday, May 15, 2008. A California Supreme Court has affirmed the lesbian and gay right to marry. Politicians who were against the ruling have geared up for a long fight in the courts and the ballot.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom celebrated. It was like a victory for him because in 2004, he ordered the county clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. These marriages were later invalidated by lower court decisions. No words could describe the reactions.

In 2000, there was a ban on same sex marriages. The State legislature passed laws to legalise gay marriage. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed them. He wanted California’s courts to rule on the matter and now they have.

Lindsay Harris found after 3 years.

Lindsay Harris, aka Lindsay Marie Harris, 22, disappeared in Las Vegas in 2005. Her disappearance sparked a massive investigation. It unearthed the fact that she led a double and secret life as a social escort.

Lindsay Harris’ parents never gave up their search for their daughter. In 2006, they participated in a large scale search for Lindsay around the vicinity where her rented car was found abandoned. They failed to locate any clues.

After 3 years of searching for Lindsay, the police have finally found her body. They did not release the details on exactly where or how her body was found. Lindsay was found in Illinois, somewhere far away from her last known location in Las Vegas.

Curtis Whitley, ex NFL center, was found dead.

Curtis Whitley, 39, a former NFL center, had played for 3 teams in the 1990s. He had a history of substance abuse. On Sunday night, May 11, 2008, Curtis was found dead in his trailer home in Fort Stockton, east of El Paso.

Cliff Harris, the local sheriff, said that Curtis was found in his bathroom. His friends were worried when they did not hear from him and went to check on him. No foul play was suspected but his body has been sent to El Paso for an autopsy.

In 1997, Curtis confessed that he had been using crystal methamphetamine since 1992. He admitted that his suspension from playing professional football in Carolina was due to drug use.

Whitney Thompson won American’s Next Top Model.

Whitney Thompson, 20, has become the winner of Cycle 10 of America’s Next Top Model (ANTM). She made history because she was the first full figured woman to win ANTM.

Whitney had natural brown hair but sometimes, she dyed her hair blonde so her pictures had a mixture of brown and blonde hair. She would be the same Whitney Thompson, no matter what her hair color was.

Whitney won a contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics. She would become the cover girl for the magazine Seventeen in their July 2008 issue. She would be taken under the wing of Elite Model Management.

American Idol results May 14, 2008.

American Idol results were predicted even before the viewer votes were counted. 56 million votes were tallied.

Syesha Mercado did not make it. There was speculation that her choices of songs were not favorable to her vocal range. She did not cry but sang her swan song beautifully.

David Archuleta and David Cook will compete head to head for next week’s finale.
