Published rumors that Whitney Houston’s million dollar Atlanta mansion was sold in a foreclosure sale are not true. Big Time Listing’s blog reports that the controversial singer recently sold her five-bedroom, 8,022-square-foot house in Alpharetta, Ga. for $1.19 M. The diva purchased the home in 2003 for $1,388,888 before she was divorced from her bad boy husband Bobby Brown. The mansion was actually the location for the 2005 reality TV show Being Bobby Brown.
Built in 2001, the two-story house just outside Atlanta, has seven baths, a master suite on the main level with a morning bar, a keeping room overlooking the kitchen with a wet bar, a breakfast nook, a breakfast bar, a full finished terrace level, a billiard room, a circular driveway, a balcony and a three-car garage, all on a 0.6-acre lot, according to public records and listing information.
The personal struggles of this beautiful and talented songbird and actress have been highly publicized by the press. Houston has been in and out of drug rehab to battle her addictions to marijuana, cocaine, and pills. In January 2000, Houston was arrested at an airport checkpoint after two plastic baggies of marijuana and three partially smoked joints were found in her luggage. She eventually reached a plea bargain, and despite missing the court’s deadline to submit proof of passing a substance-abuse evaluation, her record was wiped clean five months later. In 2002, she told Diane Sawyer, “First of all, let’s get one thing straight. Crack is cheap. I make too much for me to ever smoke crack. Let’s get that straight, okay? We don’t do crack. We don’t do that. Crack is wack.” In 2003, her husband, rapper Bobby Brown, was charged with battery after an argument with Houston left her with facial injuries.
Whitney and Bobby seperated in October of 2006. The music icon seems to have pulled herself together since the seperation. Despite all of the drama in Houston’s personal life, there’s no question about her amazing talents and accomplishments. The Guinness Book Of World Records lists Whitney as music’s “most awarded female artist of all time,” with an amazing tally of 411 awards (as of 2006).
