Katie Couric enjoyed more than an extra day off on Labor Day weekend. The “Katie” host became engaged to her financier boyfriend of two years, John Molner.
Couric’s rep confirmed the happy news, revealing Molner proposed on the beach at sunset in East Hampton, New York.
Katie’s rep adds that he popped the question with an “impressive” diamond ring and she had no hesitation in saying “yes”.
Couric has been a widow since her husband Jay Monahan died from colon cancer in 1998, dating never men but not finding Mr. Right.
She became a spokeswoman for colon cancer awareness following her husband’s tragic death.
Katie Couric, 45, previously said of marriage, “I used to worry a lot about the future. [But] who knows what it will bring? Hopefully it will bring good things”.
The journalist met 50-year-old Mr Molner in 2011, who is head of mergers and acquisitions at investment firm Brown Brothers Harriman.
Katie and John went public with their relationship in April 2012. She also made it known she “liked the idea of having a life partner”.
Molner will become a step-dad to Katie Couric’s two daughters – Ellie, 21, and Carrie, 17.
Her talk show “Katie” returns for a second season on September 9.
