Actor Matthew Perry, who will always be known as Chandler Bing of the the beloved sitcom “Friends”, is opening up about his battle with alcohol and drugs.
The 43-year-old actor reveals the highest point of his career was actually his lowest point in his personal life.
Matthew Perry may have been banking $1 million per episode of his television show, but had issues with pills and alcohol and couldn’t hid it.
Perry said, “I had a big problem with alcohol and pills and I couldn’t stop. Eventually things got so bad that I couldn’t hide it, and then everybody knew.”
Matthew Perry admits he was extremely lonely, revealing he would “come home, light some candles, have a drink, watch a movie that was slightly over my head and label myself something ridiculous like a misunderstood artist.”
Perry is now trying to help others battle their own addiction problems. The actor turned his Malibu beach home into a men’s sober living facility named Perry House to show people suffering from addiction that they can overcome it like he did.
The actor said he has finally found “true happiness” in sobriety and by helping others.
