Ryan Davis, one of the founders of Giant Bomb, has passed away at the age of 34 just five days after getting married.
There are no details on the cause of death for Ryan Davis, but his new bride tweeted on July 3 that she was “sending her big bro over to wake Davis (Taswell) up”. We are guessing Davis was found dead that day.
No matter the cause of death, it certainly is sad for his family, friends, and diehard fans.
Ryan Davis, who co-founded gaming website Giant Bomb along with Jeff Gertsmann, started his career writing for GameSpot, co-hosting the Time Trotters web series.
In February 2008, he and several other members of the GameSpot staff quit in protest after Gerstmann was fired for giving a negative review to a game whose publisher was a GameSpot sponsor. Davis and Gerstman started Giant Bomb a month later.
Giant Bomb was named one of Time Magazine’s top 50 websites in 2011. Davis hosted or co-hosted the Giant Bombcast (podcast) and This Ain’t No Game.
Ryan’s sudden death was announced on the news gaming site Giant Bomb:
“In the face of this awfulness, many of us will at least always remember him as we last saw him: outrageously, uproariously happy, looking forward to his next adventure with the biggest grin his face could hold”.
Ryan’s wife of only five days, Anna Davis, tweeted a photo of fireworks on July 4, writing, “Wish you were here”.
On July 8, she tweeted, “I hate waking up and feeling…”
Ryan Davis had tweeted about not feeling well the day before his death, talking about Lortab, which is a narcotic prescription drug of hydrocodone and acetaminophen.
@johntdrake OH MY GOD THAT'S NOT WHAT I THOUGHT LORTAB WAS. I'm just taking antihistimines

Of course, we have no idea what caused Davis’ death and he was overweight. Many speculate he had a heart attack.
Ryan’s father thanked fans for their supportive messages during this difficult time. He also took a moment to post these adorable pics of his son.
