Amanda Bynes was taken away in handcuffs after being arrested for drug possession (marijuana) and reckless endangerment, after throwing a large bong out the window of her 36th floor apartment in front of cops!
The troubled actress, whose erratic behavior has everyone worried for her mental health, arrived to the police station in a strange platinum-blonde wig.
The New York police were called on Thursday night by the doorman of Amanda Bynes’ apartment building on West 47th Street. He reported that Amanda was smoking marijuana in the lobby of the building.
Police responded to the call and went to Bynes’ apartment and immediately noticed a “heavy smell of marijuana and smoke”.
The former actress let the police inside and they immediately noticed the bong. Bynes grabbed it and threw it out of her high-rise window right in front of police.
Thankfully, nobody was injured by the bong.
Amanda Bynes’ actions have led to her being charged with reckless endangerment under New York state law.
Bynes was placed under arrest and reportedly went nuts, yelling, “Don’t you know who I am?”
Police took Amanda Bynes to Roosevelt Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation before booking her into the police station for possession of marijuana, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence.
Bynes was photographed being led away in handcuffs on Thursday night in a whacky platinum blonde wig and a black Versace sweatshirt.
The former Nickelodeon star has totally changed her appearance in the past year and her odd behavior has definitely raised a few eyebrows.
Her arrest comes after two men attended a party at her Manhattan apartment last month, telling In Touch about Bynes’ filthy home and drug use.
Bynes jumped to her own defense on Wednesday night on Twitter, but seemed more concerned about the tabloid using “old” photos of her before her nose job.
Amanda Bynes has arrived to court this morning to face a judge about her drug arrest.
Amanda told the judge the bong she threw out of her apartment window last night was “just a vase.”
Prosecutors requested Bynes be held in lieu of $1,000 bail, but the judge let Amanda Bynes go without posting bail. He did warn her that if she missed court in July that an arrest warrant will be issued.
Amanda Bynes’ parents are trying to get her placed under a conservatorship.
Her worried parents Rick and Lynn have visited several lawyers in a bid to sign over all legal, medical and financial control of her affairs to an external party.
An insider said, “This latest arrest has broken their hearts and they are sick with worry, but there is nothing they can do under the law.”
