Chris Brown claims that photographers caused him to wreck his black Porsche.
The “Turn Up the Music” singer, who was accused of faking his court-ordered community service records, claims that aggressive paparazzi cut him off and caused him to crash his Porsche in Los Angeles Saturday night.
Chris Brown’s rep said the 23-year-old star was being aggressively pursued by photographers, when he started backing down an alley and was cut off by two other cars.
His rep adds, “Chris’ vehicle was totaled due to this aggressive pursuit by the paparazzi. He is okay.”
Brown, who is attending the Grammy Awards tonight with girlfriend Rihanna, had to have his car towed from the scene.
A spokesperson for the Beverly Hills Police department confirmed that Chris crashed into a wall, stating, “On February 9, 2013 at approximately 12:03pm, entertainer Chris Brown was involved in a solo, non-injury traffic collision in the 600 Block Bedford Drive/Camden Drive alley. Mr. Brown was the driver of the vehicle and collided with a wall. Brown stated that he was being chased by paparazzi causing him to lose control of his vehicle. Brown’s Black Porsche was towed from the scene at his request.”
Chris Doherty, owner of INF, the photo agency that employs all the photographers on scene insists that the paparazzi had nothing to do with Chris Brown’s car wreck.
Doherty says the photographers actually arrived just after Chris wrecked, saying, “No photographers were following him at the time he crashed … He crashed his car and it’s convenient for him to blame us. He needs to be careful with his defamatory statements.”
