We all know that actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta are Scientologists, but we bet you will be surprised at some of the stars that are involved in the cult-like religion.
L. Ron Hubbard’s famous followers include singers, A-list actors of the small and big screen, and top news anchors. Let’s take a look at some celebrity Scientologists!
We all are aware that actor Tom Cruise is a high-ranking Scientology church official. But, did you know he believes he is on a mission to save us from aliens that live inside of us?
The crazy claims come from a new book by Pulitzer Prize winning author Lawrence Wright who alleges that Cruise is fighting to bring non-believers into the church to save the world from thetans (which they believe are the alien life forms inside of us that destroyed Earth in the past). Alrighty then!
Check out the crazy shiz Tom Cruise had to say in this video:
Actress Kirstie Alley
The former “Cheers” star was raised a Methodist, but turned to Scientology to help her kick her cocaine addiction years ago. She said of the cult, “To tell you the honest-to-God truth: without Scientology, I would be dead. So, I can personally highly recommend it.”
Actress Catherine Bell is another celebrity Scientology member. She is most known for her role as Lt. Col. Sarah “Mac” MacKenzie in NBC’s military law drama “JAG.”
Actor Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith have never publicly come out and admitted they are members of Scientology, but actions speak louder than words. The couple have made numerous multi-million dollar donations to the church for years.
Actress Jenna Elfman
Former “Dharma and Greg” actress Jenna Elfman and her husband Bodhi Elfman are both members of the church of Scientology.
“My Name is Earl” funnyman Jason Lee is also involved with the church. He previously stated, “I’m not trying to lie low about my personal beliefs because of fear that I’ll be judged harshly. I’m just not interested in being a spokesperson for anything.”
Lee’s ex-wife claims that the religion is what caused their split.
“Natural Born Killer” star and singer Juliette Lewis has previously said she enjoys how flexible the religion is to her. She said,”It’s a progressive religion in that it’s a body of knowledge. You can be a Jewish or a Buddhist Scientologist and people don’t understand that.”
Danny Masterson and wife Bijou Phillips
Former “That 70s Show” actor Danny Masterson and his wife are both active members in the Church of Scientology.
Another former “That 70s Show” star is also part of the religion. Laura Prepon was actually converted by her former boyfriend, Danny Masterson.
Elisabeth Moss, who plays the role of Peggy on “Mad Men”, is very devoted to Scientology. In fact, insiders report her one-year marriage to Fred Armisen unraveled because of the religion.
Lisa Marie Presley and her mother Priscilla Presley
The late Elvis Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie, and his widow, Priscilla Presley, are both members of the religion.
John Travolta and Kelly Preston
A well-known member of the church is “Pulp Fiction” star John Travolta and his wife, Kelly Preston.
Travolta has been a Scientologist for over 30 years, even before his role on the television show “Welcome Back, Kotter”.
Former “King of Queens” star Leah Remini is very much involved in Scientology and is rumored to send her fans Scientology brochures in response to their fan letters.
Most of you will recognize Giovanni as the brother of “Friends” character Phoebe Buffay. But, Ribisi has also starred in “Star of Avatar”, “Public Enemies”, and “Ted”.
Ribisi previously said of the religion, “Without Scientology, I would be in an alley somewhere, looking for drugs.”
