Michael Houston dropped a bombshell as he sat down for an interview on OWN with Oprah Winfrey and his mother Cissy Houston.
Michael admits getting his sister, late singer Whitney Houston, started on drugs years ago. He said he lives with that guilt every day.
During the Oprah interview on OWN, the host discussed singer Whitney Houston’s untimely death in Feburary 2012.
Michael revealed that he was the first person that Whitney did drugs with in the 80s. He said, “You gotta understand at the time … the 80s … it was acceptable. “It’s painful … I feel responsible for what I let go so far.”
Whitney Houston died last February in a hotel room, with Xanax, marijuana, and cocaine in her system.
Whitney Houston’s mother Cissy Houston said of her late daughter in her memoir, “I’m angry she died alone, in those conditions. She started partying and she didn’t really know how to stop. I used to wonder what she was doing at night, where she was”.
Cissy doesn’t blame the singer’s ex-husband Bobby Brown for Whitney’s addiction, realizing the singer was hooked on drugs long before she met Bobby.
Cissy explains, “I blame him for the way he treated her, but I don’t blame him for her drug problems.”
Whitney’s mother also touched on her daughter’s rumored lesbian romance with Robyn Crawford, saying she didn’t care for Crawford and wouldn’t approve of a gay relationship.
