It appears as if Britney Spears may be on the chopping block after the “X Factor” lost viewers on their finale show.

Insiders report that Simon Cowell is ready to fire Spears because he wanted “crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney.”

The singer, who had a lucrative $15 million contract for her stint on the judge’s panel, wasn’t quite what Cowell had hoped for from the singer.

One source said, “They paid all that for her to say ‘amazing’ and offer half-claps.”

Another source said, “Britney will get the boot. Producers wanted her for the long haul, but it isn’t working.”

Judge L.A. Reid has already announced he will be leaving the show to focus on his record label.

Cowell had hoped Britney Spears’ drama-filled life would draw in fans to the singing competition show. But, Brit Brit’s performance on the show fell flat.

The season finale of “X Factor” was watched by only 9.6 million viewers, down 18 percent from the first season finale.

It doesn’t appear Spears’ contract will be renewed and Demi Lovato’s spot isn’t guaranteed either.

This is the latest trouble for Britney, who was the subject of a strange restraining order request from her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s brother.

Christopher Federline claims he is the true father of Britney’s oldest son, Sean Preston, and also claims Britney stole his credit card and made unauthorized charges.
