Peter Andre’s brother Andrew Andrew has died of kidney cancer.
The 38-year-old singer is devastated after Andrew, 54, passed away on Sunday morning with his family by his side.
Peter’s rep issued a statement, saying, “Peter is devastated. He was very, very, very close to his brother. This is the first family member Peter has experienced losing.”
Andre’s ex-wife, model Katie Price with whom he has two children, put their differences aside, tweeting, “My thoughts are with the Andre family at this difficult time xx.”
Peter Andre’s brother Andrew was diagnosed with kidney cancer in February and spent most of this year going for chemotherapy treatments. The singer postponed his tour earlier this month after Andrew’s took a turn for the worse.
Peter rushed to his brother’s side in his London hospital, while his parents flew to England from Australia last week.
A family friend said, “Everyone was with him when he passed away.”
Andrew and his wife Magda had been living with Peter and his two children Junior and Princess at the singer’s Sussex home.
Peter Andre previously described how his illness had changed Andrew. He said, “I’ve seen my brother go from strong – two, three jobs a day kinda guy – to hardly being able to walk. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I live with it. He’s there in my house and I love him being there, but I guess even I wasn’t prepared for how heartbreaking it can be.”
A source close to the singer said of Peter, “He is inconsolable. He didn’t think it would come to this. Everyone has been trying to comfort him, but no one can make him feel any better.”
