Wyclef Jean’s new book, “Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story”, hits book stores on Tuesday, which reveals personal stories from the former Fugees life and career.
Wycleff opened up about everything from his impoverished childhood in Haiti and his rise to fame.
The rapper also answers the question fans have asked for years. Why did The Fugees break up?
The rapper-producer blasts Hill for tricking him into believing that he fathered her firstborn son, Zion, when Rohan Marley was actually the boy’s father.
Wyclef claims her lies about the paternity of her son, led to the breakup of the Fugees.
Jean, who was married at the time of the affair with Lauryn, writes, “In that moment something died between us. I was married and Lauryn and I were having an affair, but she led me to believe that the baby was mine, and I couldn’t forgive that.”
The Haitian-born rapper says it was Lauryn Hill’s betrayal that caused the split of The Fugees in 1997.
Wyclef Jean writes, “She could not longer be my muse. Our love spell was broken.”
