Jael Strauss, a former contestant on America’s Next Top Model, has spent six years struggling with a meth addiction that has ruined her once beautiful looks.
Strauss, 28, who finished sixth on the hit show in 2007 was an aspiring model and a finalist in cycle eight of the modeling reality show.
But now, the 28-year-old’s family are staging an intervention with Dr. Phil’s help as a last ditch effort to save her life.
Strauss has battled addiction to meth, cocaine, and painkillers for six years, which means she was doing drugs while on the show.
The once gorgeous woman is now nearly unrecognizable.
Jael now has sores all over her face and rotten teeth, which she rubs a cocaine paste on to kill the pain.
Dr. Phil asks the family in a clip from the show, “Do the drugs get her and take her life? Or do we get her and save her life?”
The former model walked toward the stage but quickly changed her mind about appearing on television and took off running.
Cameras and Dr. Phil followed Strauss onto the Paramount lot where Dr. Phil sat down to talk to Jael as she smoked a cigarette.
Cari Dee English, winner of Cycle 7 of ANTM, posted a long comment about Jael Strauss and the show, slamming America’s Top Model and Tyra Banks for not taking care of their contestants, and not helping the winners figure out to do to make a successful career for themselves.
Cari Dee stated, “Tyra won’t do anything. She provided a wonderful platform for girls to have a chance at their dream, but, after there is no “Tyra Mail”. I had to guide myself, and even though I won a model competition I still had no idea what the modeling BUSINESS was like. I had no idea what the industry was really like. I was famous, but no one wanted to take my picture. And critics and industry love to give us all s*** for not being the next big supermodel.”
