Sharon Osbourne is quitting the judge’s panel on “America’s Got Talent”, after weeks of rumors about her leaving.
The 59-year-old star is leaving the NBC talent show due to fatigue and because she feels they axed her ill son from a reality show.
Sharon claims that NBC fired her son Jack from a new reality series “Stars Earn Stripes” after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis earlier this summer.
The outspoken rocker’s wife said, “I just can’t be fake. It’s discrimination, and it was badly handled.”
She said the network fired Jack, 26, via email two days before production was set to begin on the show, which features celebrities going through military training exercises.
Sharon is still under contract with NBC but is willing to pay the penalty for leaving the show early, stating, “All they can do is stop me from being a judge on another network for five years.”
NBC denies ever firing Jack, stating that a contract for Jack was never signed. “He was somebody we were in talks with,” producer David Hurwitz said.
Sharon claims there was a verbal agreement with Hurwitz that was quickly reneged after Jack went public with his MS diagnosis.
An NBC rep said in a statement, “Sharon has been a valuable part of the NBC family. We regret any misunderstanding and wish Jack well”.
