Kile Glover (Kyle Glover), who was injured while on an inner tube on Lake Lanier Friday afternoon, remains in critical condition and sadly the outlook appears grim.
The 11-year-old stepson of R&B singer Usher is the son of his ex-wife Tameka Foster and Atlanta television exec Ryan Glover.
Kile has been declared brain dead by doctors, but the boy’s family has not made any public statements on their decision to take Glover off life support.
Glover and a 15-year-old girl were injured around 3:30 Friday on Lake Lanier when they were struck by a man on a jetski, who was later identified as family friend 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Hubbard.
Both victims were flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, with the 11-year-old boy remaining unresponsive.
Sgt. Mike Burgamy of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said that alcohol has been ruled out as a factor in the accident, but investigators are still looking into the cause.
“One minute the jet ski was running around, the next he ran over the top of them. It happened that quickly,” he said. “It appears the watercraft did strike both juveniles, with the male taking the brunt of the force.”
The DNR has said that Hubbard and the children tubing were part of the same group on an outing at the lake.
DNR rangers at the lake pulled the teenage girl from the water Friday afternoon, while Good Samaritans in a nearby boat pulled the boy from the water.
