Nick Carter claims “family drama” kept him from attending his sister Leslie’s funeral.
Leslie Carter, who passed away last Tuesday of a drug overdose at age 25, was laid to rest in New York yesterday but her brother couldn’t attend because of his “complicated” relationship with his family.
The Backstreet Boys singer revealed, “I wanted to be at my sister’s funeral, but my family has always had a complicated dynamic.
“There are so many emotions for me surrounding the loss of my sister. I am trying to stay healthy, positive, and focused.”
Sources stated that family members had gone “out of their way” to ensure Nick was not involved in the funeral service.
Leslie’s funeral was held at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville, New York and was described as “wonderful and touching”.
Leslie and Nick’s little brother Aaron Carter tweeted before the service, writing, “The truth will reveal itself. I Love you Leslie soo very very very very very much!! virtually no words. You will always be my best friend.”
He later added: “My heart is completely broken.. #signingoff (sic)”
Leslie is survived by her husband Mike Ashton and 10-month-old daughter Alyssa Jane.
Nick Carter dedicated a touching song to his late sister at a recent Backstreet Boys concert. You can see that performance here.
