Charlie Sheen will officially return to television with a new comedy series next month, a year after being fired from his sitcom “Two and a Half Men”.
Sheen will play the lead role in “Anger Management” as a former baseball player with anger issues who becomes a counselor.
Actress Selma Blair will play his therapist and Shawnee Smith will portray his onscreen ex-wife.
The show will be shot on location in the San Fernando Valley, debuting on the FX network on March 22, 2012.
Sheen said of his new show, “We will not disappoint. It’s going to be an absolute f**king rocket ship to the moon.”
Charlie recently bashed Ashton Kutcher, who replaced him on “Two and a Half Men”, saying, “I’m tired of lying. I’m tired of pretending the show doesn’t suck. I’m tired of pretending Ashton doesn’t suck. I’m tired of pretending that they’re not completely adrift. Because when you take away the anchor of your show, which they stupidly did, you go adrift. And these guys are approaching salvage vessel.”
Sheen blamed the actors, saying, “I feel bad for him. He’s saddled with such bad writing. … There’s just nothing about it that’s fresh or interesting. I forget that it’s on the air.”
Charlie issued an apology on Tuesday via Twitter (in character), writing:
I was disrespectful to a man doing his best.
I got excited and threw you into a crossfire.
The rest of my statement I stand behind.
You, however, deserve better.
Safety in your travels good sir.
